Over the Rainbow
Ensemble / Research Project (2024–2025)
Theme: Color • Memory • Costume Dramaturgy
Duration: 9′ (live versions)
Description
Over the Rainbow is a multi-version ensemble research project investigating how color layers, memory traces, and costume dramaturgy reshape the perception of movement. Developed through phenomenological inquiry and improvisation scores, the work examines embodied memory, sensory layering, and spatial composition across shifting formats.
The project currently consists of three versions:
v1 — Ensemble Version (7 dancers, 2025)
Built through color-coded improvisation tasks and collective movement archives. Dancers navigate layered costumes and repetition structures, exploring how color informs memory and kinesthetic response.
v2 — Light-and-Pattern Version (5 dancers, 2025)
A distilled version focusing on spatial organization, shadow/light dramaturgy, and mobile-light interaction. Developed through floor patterns, task-based partnering, and rhythmic repetition.
v3 — Online/Video Research Version (2025)
An overhead-shot video study revealing the spatial logic and floor patterning of the work. This version utilizes paint, traces, and real-time improvisation to make movement paths visible, functioning both as an archive and an independent visual research piece.
